Gloucester Griffins Lacrosse

About our programs

From initiation, through house league to competitive, the Gloucester Lacrosse Association provides affordable summer sports opportunities to players of all levels. Girls’ lacrosse and winter programs are also part of the GLA equation.

The house league season runs from mid-April until the end of June.

Competitive Gloucester Griffins teams play against regional clubs in zone play, and attend 3 or 4 tournaments in June and July as well as and the Ontario Provincial Lacrosse Championships in early August.

The girls’ house league season runs from mid-April until the end of June, while the competitive players continue to practice up until provincials in August.

There are also early-season skills development camps for new players, as well as advanced training camps for players preparing for the junior level.

GLA programs traditionally use arenas in Ottawa’s east end such as Earl Armstrong, Fred Barrett (Leitrim), Brewer, Navan and Kilrea (Canterbury).

About the Gloucester Lacrosse Association

Gloucester Griffins Minor Lacrosse is all about raising awareness for the sport of lacrosse… the fastest game on two feet!

The sport of lacrosse is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey. Anyone can play lacrosse – big or small. The game requires and rewards coordination and agility, not brawn. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse.

Canada’s national summer sport, lacrosse is fast-paced and exhilarating. Abrupt starts and stops, precision passes and quick shots are all routine in action-packed men’s and women’s lacrosse.

Founded in 1970, Gloucester Lacrosse offers House League & Competitive Box Lacrosse Programs for Boys & Girls Age 3-21. Talented players can move on to play junior lacrosse with the team that carries the same Griffins name as its minor competitive teams.

The Griffins have known a number of provincial and national-champion teams over the years, and many players have competed for Ontario and Canada, earned NCAA scholarship opportunities, and advanced to play lacrosse professionally (not to mention several pro hockey alumni as well).

About our classes

Unlike regular classes, designed sequentially with successive steps laid out in a linear fashion, the classes at BWB are designed for people with disabilities.

We structure our learning in a simultaneous, often overlapping way. Since our athletes have varied ways of learning, we take a dynamic, flexible, yet purposeful approach to our class structure, all while creating opportunity for our athletes to set their own goals.

We tailor our classes to adjust to varying skills, learning abilities, and cognitive and motor development. Our unique coaching style reveals every athlete’s potential to become a champion.
